What is the Esporta Wash System?

The Esporta wash system is the disaster restoration industry’s only wet-wash machine designed from the ground up to recover “soft contents” from fire and water disasters. Its patented design features “safe hold” compartment for holding delicates, leathers, and what is known as category 2 & 3 soiled laundry. It can disinfect, deodorize, and wash 160 lbs. of laundry, shoes, and other bulky goods that might have survived your fire and/or water disaster.

Traditional front and top loading washing machines utilize mechanical action to remove soil from fabric. While mechanical action may remove soil, it is not effective for the removal of smoke, soot, and bacteria.

The patented Esporta Wash System eliminates the need for ozone by completely removing the smoke, soot, bacteria, mold, and other contaminants by using hydraulic pressure to force these contaminants out of the contents.

How It Works 

Traditional Washing Technologies
Traditional Washing Technologies (front or top loading wash machines, dry-cleaning machines, etc.) utilize agitation, higher washing temperatures and sometimes damaging detergents in the cleaning process.

The mechanical tumbling action in traditional washers create wear and stress on the garments. The cleaning process itself relies on the surfactant abilities of the detergents to dislodge the soil. While mechanical action may remove soil, it is not effective for the removal of smoke, soot, and bacteria.  The higher wash temperatures and sometimes harmful detergents result in soft goods deterioration as well as adversely affecting the colorfastness and structural integrity.

Patented, hydraulic pressure cleaning
The Esporta Wash System ES-3300 is the next generation of innovation in cleaning technology.  Traditional commercial washing machines use mechanical action to dislodge the dirt and debris, wereas the Esporta Wash System utilizes a patented process which forces detergent and disinfectant laden water though the items being restored.  The combination of this hydraulic pressure and Esporta's proprietary detergents and disinfectants allows operators to decontaminate ensemble elements to levels which are not achievable using traditional washing machines.  The combination of the neutral pH and low temperature environment minimizes garment damage, shrinkage and color bleeding.  The lack of mechanical action in the Esorta Wash System results in a much wider range of restorable goods.  Just imagine a porcelain doll or a pair of leather stiletto heels tumbling around in a traditional washing machine,  It would be catastrophic.  Click on the picture to watch a video about this technology. 

Items are secured in individual cages and forced through multiple baths of detergent laden water. Water is pushed through the microscopic spaces in the garment, flushing away the dirt, bacteria, mold and other organic and inorganic contaminants.

After being washed and rinsed, the garments are subjected to a low "G" force high speed extraction process that removes 85% of the moisture, leaving the garments slightly damp in order to prevent any shrinkage.

Restoration Ability
The Esporta technology can restore 90% of what traditional cleaning methods can restore and 85% of what traditional methods cannot restore.  This has a significant impact on the amount of goods that are processed on a claim. 

Independent Laboratory Verification
The combination of Esporta's patented cleaning process, patented wash recipes, and the proprietary cleaning detergents have been tested and validated in independent, third party laboratory testing.  When a company utilizes the Esporta Wash System - including Esporta cleaning detergents, they are getting a cleaning process backed by third party laboratory results.  When using traditional washing machines and off the shelf detergents a cleaner would have no third party validation on the decontamination ability.  This washing method has been tested and endorsed by such companies as DuPont Personal Protection, 3M, W.L. Gore & Associates, E.D. Bullard Co., Zep Manufacturing, International Personnel Protection, Inc., HydroQual Laboratories, Wonder Makers Environmental, Inc., Northwest Laboratories, Caro Environmental Services, and the University of Alberta.

Specialized cleaning Detergents
It has taken nearly 10 years of research to develop the optimal recipe of proprietary detergents to help achieve a surgical grade clean*. Esporta Wash Systems and ZEP Manufacturing continue to develop innovative detergent design to ensure ever increasing cleaning efficiency.  Esporta detergents are engineered to work with this new technology.  Unlike traditional washing machine manufacturers, Esporta Wash Systems Inc. has worked with ZEP Manufacturing to create a synergistic blend of detergents, disinfectants, and fragrances.  These cleaning and disinfecting solutions have been designed  specifically for use in the Esporta Wash System and are only available to Esporta Wash System operators.

• TAK 1 Detergent (Stage 1) is an enzyme based detergent produced by non-pathogenic bacteria designed to break down protein oils, sweat, blood fungi, and other organic compounds allowing them to be easily removed from the elements.  It also destroys the bacterial food source of pathogenic bacteria like staphylococcus so they can easily be eliminated by the enzymes in latter stages. 
• PENTRATOR Detergent (Stage 2) is a synergistic blend of detergents, detergent builders, water-soluble solvents, and optical enhancing brighteners.  The detergent builders and buffered alkalinity maintain an optimum pH of 9.5.  This stage contains two distinct biodegradable surfactants that reduce water tension and allow the balance of the ingredients in Stage 2 to break down the matter. 
• FORCE Additive (Stage 3) is a sanitizer with built-in sour containing peroxyacetic acid and other oxygen-based bleaching agents.  Force additive is proven effective in killing all bacteria including MRSA staphylococcus aureus, viruses and mold spores with 99.9997% efficacy. 
• SIGNATURE Fragrance (Stage 4) implements a fresh odor to the elements.  This fragrance is a special formulation of 140 different natural oil extracts including mint, orange peel and vanilla  The scent is not a masking agent and is entirely optional but has no additional charge. 

ADDITIONAL CLEANERS

These pre/post-treatments and powerful stain removers are specifically engineered for the demands of the restoration industry. From our patented TKO presoak to removers of rust, cosmetics, protein, oil and grease as well as rubber and tar, Esporta ensures that no item is left unclean.

• Esporta Extreme Oil & Soot Pre-wash Detergent is an eco-friendly oil pre-wash specifically used for oily items as a pre-treatment. Powerful 'Green' solvents ar coupled with a cutting edge surfactant package to release and remove oily stains associated with food, grime, and greases.
• Esporta Extreme Laundry Bright is a new powerful stain removing formula designed specifically for laundry operations and is used to renew fabric brightness and whiteness as well as remove the most powerful stains.  
• Esporta Classic TKO Pre-Soak is the highest quality laundry pre-soak.  It contains enzymes designed to digest stains and soils that even bleach cannot remove.  It is safe for use on all water fast colors and fabrics, including permanent press. 
• Esporta CLASSIC SOFTENER is a highly concentrated laundry formula designed to reduce wrinkling, soften fabrics and leave laundry static free and with a very pleasant neutral fragrance. This product is used for all types of materials including cotton, wool, & polyester.

*As part of our environmental mandate, all of our detergents are phosphate-free. The washing ability of the ES-3300 leaves all articles residual-free, thus producing a hypoallergenic wash.


Engineering
With over 10 years of research and development, the current Esporta Wash System ES-3300 brings cleaning to a new level. Through a combination of engineering advances and a dedicated research team, the ES-3300 is the pinnacle of washing technology. This patented washing technology is housed in a stainless steel cage and is controlled by microprocessors with a touchscreen human interface.

Its cleaning capacities range from the most delicate garments to the most soil stained items. This is accomplished while avoiding the destructive effects of agitation that usually occur in the traditional washing process. The demands of the restoration industry shaped the form and function of the new ES-3300. The Esporta Washing System was designed to handle whatever was thrown at allowing it to adapt to larger items and increased content.

Pump System
The 6-cartridge peristaltic pump system ensures that the Esporta detergents are released into the wash cycle and follow the exact specifications of the selected wash programs.

These pumps, also used in the medical industry, were specifically chosen to ensure that the detergents remain contaminant free.

Cage Design
As restoration jobs can cover a wide range of contents of varying shapes, sizes and absorption rates, much care was taken during the engineering process.

To date, the members of the Certified Esporta Wash System Operators have saved the insurance industry $86,781,013.91 on 11,053 claims. We have restored over 808 dump truck loads (655 tons/9,701 cubic yards) of soft contents that previously were considered not restorable and otherwise would have ended up in a landfill.
